Hungry Ghost festivals

Being the hungry ghost festival month, some of my friends are quite superstitious and observe several basic rules. Of course, the usual spooky tales will spring up and bring chills down our spine. As I listened intently, I realised that for most people, as we grow older, we grew less afraid of the supernatural. Not because the increased courage that comes with age, not of the lack of belief in the supernatural. Most probably, I mused to myself, as most people grow up, they have seen much more frightening things than a hungry ghost. I believe what a hungry ghost can do, will sometimes pale in comparision with his counterparts, the human being.

Thus I mused to myself again, perhaps those that are still very afraid of these things are blessed people. They have lead a good life and subconciously believe that the most frightening thing they would encounter would be that of the supernatural kind. Of course, that will be an absurd conclusion, but deep down, perhaps there is an element of truth in it. And there will be the downright evil people who do the baddest things to others that they failed to see evil in themselve, perhaps one day, the hungry ghost should pay these people a visit, such that they may finally see a true reflection of oneself :)

SMRT plans fare hikes for its bus, MRT, LRT services

SMRT Corporation is planning to raise fares for its bus, MRT and LRT services.
It will apply for a fare adjustment by the August 1 deadline set by the Public Transport Council.

The SMRT Corporation says its total operating costs have ballooned by 20% this year because of the increase in diesel prices.

The fare hike will follow the PTC's formula of a maximum increase of 1.7%, which translates to a rise of one or two cents, if approved.

SMRT President and CEO Saw Phaik Hwa says that its proposed fare hike will not be sufficient to mitigate rising diesel costs.

It however supports the government's call for smaller and regular fare increases.

Can you sense the underlying tone? We are so grateful that although the fare hike is not sufficient, you guys are magnaminous enough to only limit it to one or two cents. Despite having high profits every year, we are sorry that it will eat into your profits. Sorry...

impermanence

Alas, forced to move. All my old blogs and entries...sigh. Nothing is of permanence, I guess...

So naive was I, that I grew confident, that my blog will be here forever till the end of the world. Well, the heavens has a way of smacking you in such a way that you will wake up. Most of it is my fault though, although blogging is a personal thing. We must take responsibility for the repercussions and responsibilities that come along with it. I sound like the govt now, haha.

Anyway, what's done is done. Would I change the contents of what I write now, maybe not, but perhaps I will not publish this url anymore. It is so sad, a blog with a viewership of only around 20 people...ironic. And the best thing is, I only blog about my personal opinions about events and things. Okok.
